Things I Don't Understand

I don't understand why people, whether it be friends, acquaintances, family or entire countries, can fight over whose religion is the most accurate. It seems to me that if you just respect what others believe as profoundly as you do, then you'd understand their passion for their specific religion even if you don't agree with it.

But that's saying a mouthful. Many of us don't respect others' opinions, differences about anything, let alone religious beliefs.

I don't understand how you can look outside and admire the sky, the clouds, the sun, the moon, the dirt, the trees, the flowers, the rain, the snow, the oceans, the rivers, and everything else this earth has to offer, and still be an atheist.

I don't understand how you can get through this thing we call life without some type of spiritual foundation. I don't understand how you can't believe in a higher power or something else besides yourself.

Did you say something about science? Oh, I thought I heard you say something.

And yet, in some weird way, I do understand why some people question whether there is a God, a Jesus. I do understand why they don't believe a word in the bible. Their belief in what isn't is just as strong as our belief in what is.

We humans are too smart for our own britches. I wonder where that ability came from.

I keep hearing someone say something about science.

Some believe; some don't. Some analyze; some accept. Some are scared; some aren't.

But no matter what, I'm willing to bet that a number of atheists have mouthed the infamous words, "Oh, my God," on more occasions than they'd care to admit or than they've even realized.

In fact, I"m certain that it often rolls off of their tongues quite naturally with no hesitation.

I do understand that.
