Letting the Ocean Be My Guide

Sometimes we don't give the healing effects of nature enough credit. We don't think about how it can positively affect our mental and physical well-being. Whether it be taking a walk in a park, admiring the trees, enjoying the sounds of birds chirping, hiking up the mountains, sitting on the beach, basking in the sun, twirling your toes in the sand, listening to the soothing sounds of the oceans, rivers, and streams.
All of these things can raise your endorphin levels instantaneously depending on the type of nature you enjoy. You will feel genuine happiness in that moment. That's why it's important to make sure you get yourself a dose on a regular basis. I hadn't had a dose of the ocean (my preferred nature medicine) in a while until this past weekend in San Diego. Although my one-hour dose was much smaller than I usually allow, it was a great reminder of how much I need to connect with that part of nature on a regular basis.
It's nothing for me to spend an entire day at the beach when I am on vacation . While the sun is rejuvenating me and replenishing my vitamin D, I can dip my toes in the sand and listen to the waves, and my mind magically clears. I love a good walk practically anywhere, but nothing gives me as much peace as the beach and the ocean. I can immediately feel whatever tension I may have had removing itself from my body. So, not only does it release stress from my body, it makes my thoughts flow more freely, clearly. My thoughts seemingly have no choice but to slow down and get into alignment with the rest of my body that has fallen into relaxation mode.

I am my best self when I have an ocean to retreat to. Stress and worry is replaced with patience and joy. The ocean takes away my fears and uplifts me. God speaks much louder to me when I am surrounded by water. With that in mind, I'm allowing the ocean to be my guide.
