A Collective Fever

Birds are chirping, vying for attention. Dogs are trotting with a little extra pep in their step. More of your fellow humans are suddenly smiling in your direction. People are essentially skipping into their destinations. Sunshine is gracing us more abundantly. The breeze is changing its harsh tune. The clouds are more vibrant, demanding your attention and making promises of a good day. Trees and flowers are threatening to bud early even though we know it's just a tease and we still have some time before the full bloom. The grass is showing signs of luster, while the dimmer needles recognize the end of their days. The gentle breeze, warm sun, pillowy clouds work in unison to give you the clarity and peacefulness that's been out of kilter all winter long.
Socks are disappearing from feet that have been submerged, smothered, and suffocated for far too long and being replaced with flip flops much too soon. (But it's okay ... our toes can suffer through the slight chill for a little while longer as we experience spring fever.)
Spring is politely hovering over us, folks.
Actually, spring is only a few days away, and those of us who have been hibernating all winter are giddy about it. We can finally make that reconnection with nature and enjoy all the things we love most about the outdoors. We can all lose the attitudes that seemingly come out of nowhere because we're so discombobulated during those winter months. We can spring forward into life's next chapter with a fresh, new outlook.
I always look forward to this time of year because I get to open my windows and feel fresh air again. I get to feel the breeze conduct its dual magic on me ... breathing life into me or relaxing me when anxiety kicks in. Spring is the introduction to my favorite season, and all I can think about is heading full throttle into the summer that awaits me.
