Hug It Out Fridays

One of the things I love most about Saturday Night Live is the end where everyone who was a part of the show that Saturday night embraces, shakes hands, and congratulates each other on a great show. To me, the "hug it out" moment is the most genuine exchange and sometimes it just makes me a tad bit teary-eyed. Maybe it's the music that accompanies it as well. All I know is, it gives me warm and fuzzy feelings inside and it always has.

While watching the ending of a recent SNL show, it made me think about our jobs and how if we all did that at the end of every work day, it may help us to erase the sometimes difficult events of the day. Okay, well maybe every day is a little too much, so let's just say every Friday when people are already in a good mood because the weekend is moments away.

Can you imagine hugging it out with your coworkers before you leave on Friday? Everything negative that may have been said or done during the week is now forgotten, at least until Monday.

Since we spend so much of our time at work, it's critical that we get along. Of course, if you genuinely despise your coworker or even your boss, this idea may make you break out into hives or something. However, if you can tolerate them long enough to hug it out for a few seconds on a Friday, it may be an awesome, uplifting way to end the work week.

Okay, so who's going to bring this idea up at their workplace? I can just see that one coworker now whose response will be something like this, "I'd rather work until 10pm tonight than to touch him!" Or, "Will taking a dollar off my hourly wage excuse me from having to do this?"

Inevitably, some people will probably call in sick on a couple of Fridays to avoid hugging their coworker or boss. But others may find that they could actually use a hug and don't mind it coming from their coworker. Then there's also the problem of having to hug the potential office pervert or crush. Hmmm...

Let me think this through a little more.
